The LOL Homeschool Group was established in July of 2008 and offers an active e-mail loop along with field trips, holiday parties, Mom's Night Out, family gatherings, and much more!

Summer Nature Field Trips

Edible and Medicinal Plants

  • Time: 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
  • Cost: FREE; however, $3 suggested donation

Program Info: Have you ever wondered what plants are edible and which are not? Or which plants could help cure headaches naturally? Answers to these and other questions will be revealed at this information program. A Tift volunteer will take you through the preserve and point out plants you may pass everyday that can be eaten or even used to cure your aches and pains!



Turtle Tour

  • Time: 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
  • Cost: FREE; however, $3 suggested donation ( donations this day will be used for wetland habitat restoration )

Program Info: Meet at the cabin for a brief introduction before heading out to the wetlands for a turtle adventure. Binoculars will be provided if you don't have your own. Discussion topics will include native and non-native turtles, wetland restoration, the pet trade, threatened species, and much more.
